Cymbidium Orchids: A New Hardy Favorite for SF

Cymbidium orchids grow very well outdoors in San Francisco. They are quite hardy. On my deck outside, where I have 4 large pots of them, it is difficult to grow most annuals & many perennials due to wind and sunny dry periods. Three of four of them are in flawless bloom right now...even with my more-than-occasional forgetful neglect.

  1. Hi Ronnie, found your blog today. It's great. Now tell me, do you leave your Cymbidiums out all year in SF?
It was pretty cold when I visited SF in Dec/Jan. Do you think I could chance it in a central London Garden?

  2. I leave them our year round, yes. They are somewhat sheltered on my deck, but perhaps you could chance it in London! Best of luck!
